Andrew Parrish - Alternate Tax Solutions

Andrew Parrish

President and CEO

Andrew Parrish is a senior executive with experience in operational management, customer service, and international and domestic sales management. Andrew has worked in Fortune 500 companies such as IBM and Motorola. He is co-founder of Alternate Tax Solutions, and as the company’s CEO, he is also co-founder and CEO of ATS’s sister company, Diligentiam.

As a national sales manager, Andrew oversaw the development and design of new products. Andrew was also responsible for the successful implementation and roll out of new products and sales systems. Andrew also has experience in working on Kaizen and Six Sigma process development.

Andrew has built systematic training structures that effectively cross-train key employees in multiple facets of a business model. Andrew has assisted companies in developing and growing their international sales organizations through the establishment of Interest Charged-Domestic Income Sales Corporations (IC-DISC). He has also utilized federal government resources, such as the United States Commerce Department, Small Business Administration, and various university international business departments to conduct the due diligence needed in mergers & acquisitions.

Andrew loves building and motivating teams towards achieving their goals. Andrew’s hobbies are coaching AAU and middle school basketball and football. Also, Andrew has been a college and high school youth minister.

Roland Boucher - Alternate Tax Solutions

Roland M. Boucher, CPA, CGMA, LREB, AS, BS, MBA

Principal Business and Tax Strategist

Roland is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Rhode Island and holds a Certified Global Management Accountant designation with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He was previously employed for over ten years with a national certified public accounting firm and a large New England regional firm as audit supervisor. He has been involved with SEC, ICC, initial public offerings, mergers and spin-offs, tax planning, and strategic business planning processes.

Roland has been a licensed real estate broker for over forty years and has been involved with real estate sales, appraisals, and developments of various types of properties, including industrial, commercial, hotel, rights-of-way, site development, infrastructure, and residential properties. He was Director of Real Estate for a publicly held railroad company and for a national real estate development firm located in New England for over thirteen years combined. He has also worked for over fifteen years as an officer for one of New England’s largest construction companies. He has been involved with projects ranging from $500,000 to over $165,000,000.

Roland is also a licensed insurance broker, and has been heavily involved with risk management, property management, site development, zoning & planning boards, local government, and other governmental processes. He received his Bachelor of Science degree with an accounting concentration with honors from Johnson & Wales University and his Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in accounting and finance with high honors from Bryant University.

He has also attended post-graduate federal taxation courses in the CAGS program at Bryant University and has received certificates in real estate programs from the Weaver School of Real Estate and Budget Management Program at Boston University. He has also been a guest speaker for numerous organizations, including Johnson & Wales University and the Institute on Public Policy and Taxation, speaking on topics involving wealth preservation, asset protection, business structuring, cost segregation, and research and development tax credit studies.

As a construction specialist and technical advisor, his combined knowledge and experience in accounting, taxes, real estate development, appraisals property management and construction add a multi-dimensional view to each engagement.

Andrew Parrish Jr. - Alternate Tax Solutions

Andrew Parrish Jr, MBA

VP, R&D Tax Credits

As VP of R&D Tax Credits, Andy leads the sales and execution efforts surrounding R&D Tax Credit services for ATS clients. His team is responsible for the development and execution of strategies that help clients across the country obtain R&D Tax Credit benefits. Andy’s mastery of tax regulations and legal precedent surrounding the R&D Credit allows companies to maximize tax credits and turn their own R&D activities into an asset.

Andy is an accredited appraiser and performs fixed-asset appraisals that conform to the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP). He has experience performing valuations in the construction and mining industries.

Prior to joining Alternate Tax Solutions Andy had worked as an employment consultant at New England Business Associates and as a Policy Analyst at a Connecticut-based think tank. Both of these positions allowed him to gain experience in analyzing public policy and building relationships between various communities. He was also able to develop his writing and report building skills, which are now leveraged in the creation of audit-proof tax credit studies.

Andy joined Alternate Tax Solutions with years of leadership experience earned through his service as an infantry Squad Leader in the Marine Corps. After leaving the Marines, Andy obtained an undergraduate degree in Political Science from Central Connecticut State University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. He has also obtained an MBA with a concentration in finance from Norwich University.

Eric Ross - Alternate Tax Solutions

Eric M. Ross, MS

Director of Operations

Eric Ross is a senior business operations leader with a career history of driving increased profitability and customer satisfaction via operational excellence in a variety of settings. He is a highly flexible and adaptable, hands-on senior executive who has consistently leveraged his engineering education and a unique, multiple-industry background to regularly exceed quality and delivery expectations while continuously improving company performance.

Eric started his career of operations leadership and operational excellence while serving as a commissioned officer in the USAF. During this service, he held several operations-related roles, including Industrial Responsiveness Program Manager and Manufacturing Technology Program Manager in the Pentagon, as well as Process Improvement Manager for the large jet engine remanufacturing operation at the then Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center.

After completing his military service, Eric initially focused his career on manufacturing operations. Since then, he has held leadership positions with small and mid-size companies in several industries. His most recent positions were Chief Operating Officer (Interim) at Blue Thermo Corporation, Chief Operating Officer with New England Renewable Energy Systems / Mercury Mechanical Services, and Vice President and General Manager for TeraTorq® Systems, at Comprehensive Power, Inc.

Eric holds a Bachelor of Science degree in general engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a Master of Science degree in materials engineering from the State University of New York at Alfred University, and he is a graduate of the USAF Air Command and Staff College. In addition, he is the author of the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association manual, Understanding Geothermal Exchange Heating and Cooling.

John Raymond

John Raymond, MBA

Senior Analyst

John brings a depth of over 25 years of experience. Previously, John was the CFO of the Bottles Group (liquor and restaurant businesses) in Providence, Rhode Island, and the Department of Human Services for the State of Rhode Island. John was also the controller at Cardi Corporation (road and bridge construction) and the director of finance for publicly traded companies in excess of a billion dollars at companies such as Hasbro (toy company) and IGT (lottery systems and services). In those roles, John was responsible for managing and developing the financial strategy, data analytics, and treasury; overseeing the finance, accounting, tax, investor relations, mergers & acquisitions, and legal work; and working closely with the operations team in setting best-in-class policy and procedures.

In his time as CFO at the Bottles Group, John developed and executed a bank workout plan and strategy to allow the company to become debt-covenant compliant. John also developed forward-looking models and activity-based data analytic analyses to provide financial insight into the organization’s plans and operating budgets.

As CFO for the Office of the Budget of the State of Rhode Island, John developed a process to forecast program spending by finding correlations between analyzed data and industry data. It also entailed the ability to spot problems and initiate preventative measures and problem solve creatively.

During his time at Hasbro and IGT, John oversaw all aspects of financial operations, which included monthly closings, five-year strategic plans, budgeting, and pricing of new contracts. He also oversaw compliance, audits, and tracking expenditures on projects valued between $40 million and $100 million, and he developed pricing strategies and loyalty programs. John also provided pricing evaluation models related to several large acquisitions, along with performing the due diligence on the acquisitions.

John holds a Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in accounting from the University of Rhode Island and a master’s degree in business administration with high honors.

Albert E. Turcotte, Jr. - Alternate Tax Solutions

Tax Manager

Al’s professional experience includes senior-level experience as a CFO, Consultant, Director, and Controller within public and privately held organizations. These companies have included organizations in manufacturing, distribution, marketing, fulfillment, and e-business. Al’s involvement has included due diligence in mergers and acquisitions, strategic tax planning, start-ups, lender financing arrangements, process improvement, and company growth initiatives.

Al received his CPA certification in 1981. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Rhode Island Society of CPAs. Al is also an enrolled agent who is a federally licensed tax practitioner with unlimited rights to represent taxpayers before the IRS. He is also a member of the National Association of Enrolled Agents.

Al holds a Master of Science in Taxation along with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Bryant University. Al has been a professional tax practitioner for 40 years providing services to all types of business entities, including individual taxpayers.

As Tax Manager at Alternate Tax Solutions, Al is involved in supporting our clients’ needs for the various specialty services our firm provides. In addition, Al provides back-office support to CPAs and local tax practitioners in servicing R&D Tax Credits, Cost Segregation Analysis, and IC-DISC for their clients.

Sean Parrish Headshot

Sean Parrish, CVA

Business Valuation Analyst

Sean Parrish is an NCCA accredited Certified Valuation Analyst. Sean works with clients to provide them with independent business valuations. All of Sean’s valuations are IRS Revenue Ruling 59-60 compliant and follow the standards set forth by the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. Sean has experience performing business valuations in various industries. Sean also works on the buy-side and sell-side due diligence teams creating financial strategies to bring value to our clients’ merger and acquisition negotiations.

Sean received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with concentrations in finance and management from Northeastern University’s D’Amore-McKim School of Business. While attending Northeastern University, Sean worked for Charles River Development as a Financial Analyst. In this role, Sean performed financial projection analyses, supply chain and vendor analyses, and research and development tax credit analyses.

Sean comes to Alternate Tax Solutions after serving in the United States Marine Corps for six years. Sean served as a Marine Security Guard protecting foreign and domestic diplomatic facilities and classified information. During this time, Sean worked as an operations manager and a training manager. In these roles, Sean was in charge of leading Marines through various training exercises, as well as working directly with U.S. Ambassadors to create operational readiness plans for various consulates and embassies.

John Costantino

John M. Constantino, AS, BS, MST

Sr. Financial, Tax & Fraud Specialist

John was an enrolled agent and is a private tax and accounting practitioner. He is a member of the National Association of Tax Practitioners, National Association of Accountants and National Society of Tax Professionals. He has provided accounting, payroll and tax preparation and advisory services for the past thirty years on the corporate, partnership and individual levels.

He has worked for a regional certified public accounting firm for several years before joining the Internal Revenue Service as a corporate and individual field auditor. He was also instrumental in developing their first standardized computerized field audit analysis programs. He was with the IRS for over seven years and is credited in for several fraud examinations.

Upon leaving the IRS, John began working in the construction industry as a controller. He initially worked for a material supplier for over nine years and spent more than ten years for building, site and infrastructure construction companies. He was employed by two universities involved in grant, job cost and general accounting. John provides multitude of experience within job costing and the taxation field.

John also served our country for over 30 years in the United States Army and the Rhode Island Army National Guard. John served in combat areas while in the U.S. Army. When he retired from military service he was Lieutenant Colonel and served as a member of the General Command Staff Deputy as Inspector General for the Rhode Island Army National Guard.

John received his Associate Degree in Business Administration and a bachelor’s Degree in accounting from Johnson and Wales University. He received his Master’s Degree in Taxation from Bryant University. John attended several leadership courses, basic and advance officer course, nuclear and chemical course, Command & General Staff Officer Course and received a certificate for the Inspector General Course.

John’s multitude of experience in construction, site development, accounting, job cost accounting and analysis, corporate and individual tax consulting, fraud and criminal investigations provides great expertise in any task and assignment on an engagement.

Drew Marquis - Alternate Tax Solutions

Drew Marquis

Project Manager

Drew holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Rhode Island College. A key portion of his studies was focused in the scope of Business Psychology. Drew enjoys working with clients to provide valuable solutions for their financial goals and appreciates the long-term relationships that can develop from those interactions.

Prior to joining the Alternate Tax Solutions team in 2015, Drew worked as a building science inspector and later built and managed a small sales team for a consulting company located in Providence, Rhode Island.

Working as a Project Manager for ATS, Drew focuses on using his previous skills in building science inspection and construction to diligently produce engineered tax strategies. He is responsible for managing Cost Segregation, R&D Tax Credit, and cryptocurrency accounting projects.

Drew currently holds the Connecticut Life, Accident and Health Insurance License and the Building Performance Institute Certification for building science. He is also currently pursuing licensure as an IRS enrolled agent, as well as pursuing licensure as a real estate agent.

James Parrish - Alternate Tax Solutions

James Parrish

Project Manager

James graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a degree in economics. Prior to joining Alternate Tax Solutions in 2018, he worked on project management teams for one of the largest construction companies in New England. His responsibilities included interfacing with the client management teams and regulatory agencies, analyzing all work orders and job costs associated with each project, and performing market regulatory research.

In 2015, James enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and currently serves as an infantry squad leader in the reserves, where he has honed his leadership skills as a small unit commander and has conducted operations in some of the world’s most arduous conditions.

Since his return from Afghanistan in 2019, James has been working as a Project Manager at Alternate Tax Solutions. As a PM, James helps our clients obtain both R&D and Cost Segregation tax benefits. This requires him to work on all aspects of the tax project from client interface to report writing. James’ experience in the financial aspects of the construction industry, plus his leadership attributes, make him a terrific addition to the project management team. In his free time James enjoys salt-water fishing.
